West Bank

ANERA first started its work in the West Bank in early 1968, soon after it was occupied by Israel and thereby detached from Jordan.  After several years of focusing on the relief needs of refugees from the 1967 war, ANERA began in the mid-1970s to focus on job creation and sustainable development projects for all needy West Bank communities. Gaza

ANERA has been known throughout Gaza since the early 1980s, when we began working to stimulate job creation and develop sustainable projects. In 1985, ANERA opened an office in Gaza with just three staff members. Projects focused largely on agriculture, a major source of livelihood in the region. Read more.

Lebanon

ANERA has been supporting local non-governmental organizations in Lebanon since the 1980s. In January 2006 we opened a representative office in Beirut. ANERA works to assist Lebanese and Palestinian communities to address urgent relief needs and achieve longer-term development priorities. Read more.

Jordan

ANERA has maintained an office with four local, full-time staff in Amman, Jordan since 2004. Jordan has historically been a safe haven in a highly troubled region, receiving waves of Palestinian refugees since 1948 and now struggling to accommodate displaced Iraqis. ANERA works with persons of all nationalities in need in Jordan and we are committed to expanding the scope and scale of our activities in the coming years.
