ANERA Will Participate in the World Economic Forum

April 7, 2008 | ANERA is pleased to announce that Bill Corcoran, our President and CEO, has been invited to participate in the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, which will take place on May 18-20, 2008 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

This event will bring together global and regional leaders in the Middle East – over 1,000 of the most influential figures from politics, business and civil society, as well as selected experts from academia and think tanks.

The World Economic Forum aims to address the most pressing issues in the region this year, encourage dialogue between different stakeholders and cultures, and facilitate new partnerships to help the region tackle the challenges ahead.

What ANERA Brings to the Forum

ANERA has partnered with major corporations like Intel, CCC, Exxon Mobil and Olayan to create an innovative portfolio of projects. We offer practical on-the-ground synergies which could be essential in the Middle East where private leadership has been one of the few stable sources of direction.

Some hallmark efforts have been:

  • Design & creation of 4 IT Centers attached to West Bank universities that include incubation units for business entrepreneurs
  • Establishment & funding of the Gaza Women’s Loan Fund
  • Construction of a culinary arts vocational training center at Al Kafaat Center in Beirut
  • Initiation of industrial zones in West Bank communities
  • Promotion of agricultural development in Palestine & southern Lebanon
  • Improvement of marketing skills of the family-run hotel industry in Lebanon

With over 60 staff in the Middle East – engineers, doctors educators – we are well poised to draft and implement an economic recovery plan in cooperation with business and civic leaders.
