Community & Economic Development
In Lebanon and Jordan, the economies have been struggling under the weight of regional conflict, plunging much of their already strained populations deeper into poverty. Ongoing conflict has also taken its toll on both Israeli and Palestinian economies. Closures further prevent many Palestinians from working at all.
Despite these obstacles, American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) is helping men and women in the Middle East persevere through difficult economic times. ANERA is creating jobs that rebuild essential infrastructure, such as schools, health clinics, and water wells. We are designing job training programs and helping entrepreneurs set up small local businesses. With projects such as these, people are finding opportunities to become more self-sufficient and support their families and communities.
