With so many wide ranging projects throughout the Middle East, ANERA is effectively creating jobs for workers across a variety of sectors – construction, civic planning, health, education, tourism, culinary arts, and more.
Large Grant Projects
Through large grants from funders such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.N. International Fund for Agricultural Development, for over 30 years ANERA has been creating labor-intensive, short- and long-term job opportunities that improve community services, farm productivity and quality of life for thousands of families.
Supporting Handicrafts
ANERA assists organizations such as Atfaluna Society for the Deaf in Gaza, Al Kafaat Foundation in Lebanon and the Bethlehem Workshop for the Blind in support of their projects that stimulate work opportunities for physically and/or mentally handicapped adults.
Cash-for-Work
ANERA provides short-term cash-for-work opportunities in areas where there are high rates of unemployment and economic insecurity. Most recently, the need has been greatest in Gaza, where ANERA has employed workers to clean farmland and streets, renovate preschools, and install water networks.
Fostering a Stronger IT Sector
ANERA has also focused on professional development through the completion of four IT Centers of Excellence to give adults the tools they need for expanding their professional capacity in information technology. These centers not only graduate thousands of students to better jobs, but they themselves provide long-term work opportunities for teachers, IT professionals and administrative staff.
