Preschool to Secondary Education Support

ANERA provides a variety of support for educational institutions, from preschool to secondary school, to improve and enhance student learning.

Scholarship Program
The Scholarship Program, one of our longest-running, privately-funded programs, raises money for selected educational institutions in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, and Lebanon. Currently there are seven schools in the program, all of which have been carefully screened and monitored by ANERA field staff. In 2007, over 200 children – ages 4 to 17 – benefited from the program.

Preschool Education Improvement
In Gaza, ANERA fills a significant gap in early childhood education with our successful Preschool Education Improvement Project, conducted in partnership with the Canaan Institute of New Pedagogy, a resource and training center with an excellent reputation for working with other organizations in educational development.

The project improves preschool teachers' qualifications by promoting a child-centered learning approach, mobilizes community and parental involvement in early childhood education, and builds capacity for local Palestinian NGO partners to sustain the project in the future. One hundred teachers have benefited so far from the project.

ANERA funding also creates and expands school libraries, computer labs, sports facilities and tutoring activities. Last year, in the West Bank, ANERA upgraded the library at Al Tour School for Boys, purchased computers for Dar El Tifl School, and helped provide tutoring for orphan children at Dar El Yateem.
