Every child’s chance for a successful future depends on a good educational foundation. But when a child is born with special needs, the value of education and training multiplies dramatically. Most families cannot afford the additional costs associated with therapeutic and rehabilitation services or special tutoring and vocational training.
For over 30 years ANERA has partnered with institutions in the Middle East to provide training and educational opportunities for the most vulnerable—the physically impaired, the mentally challenged, orphans and neglected children.
For decades ANERA has partnered with Al-Kafa’at Foundation in Lebanon, where children with cerebral palsy, polio or other debilitating diseases receive physical care and specially-designed educational programs. On-campus vocational training helps the students become as self-sufficient as possible.
Deaf students attending school at Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children in Gaza or the Holy Land Institute for the Deaf in Jordan or IRAP (Institut de Reeducation Audio-Phonetique) in Lebanon benefit from the financial support ANERA donors send to the schools. Contributions purchase hearing aids, support programs for parents, and cover school costs for families that are unable to pay.
Historically ANERA has assisted institutions caring for orphaned children whose extended families are unable to provide for them. At Dar El-Tifl School for Girls in Jerusalem ANERA built a sports field, upgraded the kitchen, provided computers and remodeled the dorm rooms to give better lighting and improved heating.
