Smart Use of Medicine: Zaka wa Dawa

“Indeed it is Smart”, commented Fadi, a Creative Health Campaign activist. “ It helps us not to take medicines from friends and to know about medicines before using them”.

Zaka wa Dawa , the most recent ANERA CHC publication, is a medicine box that has 20 educational flyers as its active ingredients: Caricatures on medicine use , Smart and responsible, Facts about medicines, 12 questions, The ideal doctor’s prescription, A letter from the responsible pharmacist , Injecting medicines, Bacteria and antibiotics, Our liver loves us, Cold and cough medicines , Talk of anti-depressants , Talk of pain killers, tranquilizers and sleeping pills  , Smart slogans, No to water-pipes, no to cigarettes, Anabolic steroids, Children’s appeal, Homemade oral rehydration solution, Women and medicines and Age and medicines.

160 people from 47 groups were involved in the development process. 24 local and international NGOs and network, and UNRWA endorsed the production that was printed in January 2011.

Creative Health Campaign (CHC) materials have reached tens of thousands of households, serving as reminders of what people can do by themselves to protect and improve their health.

The materials are fun, easy to use and encourage creative actions. They were created and vetted through community-based meetings and surveys. All materials are in Arabic, with a few also translated to English.

The materials were distributed through dozens of ANERA's partners in the Campaign as well as 500 centers linked to ANERA's in-kind program.

The following materials are in PDF or Microsoft Word format.

  • CHC Basket: 10 action cards (A2) and DVD with best practices, learning activities and games from Creative Health Campaign 2006-2008 Cards in Arabic, Overview in English

  • Anti-Smoking Materials: The CHC has created a coordinated collection of anti-smoking materials for wide distribution throughout Lebanon. The collection will be the backbone of many campaign activities throughout 2009-2010. There are games and stickers for children, educational posters, and anti-smoking signs for public display. The materials promote smoke-free spaces, protect all second-hand smokers, and encourage smokers to quit. Look at the materials
