To maintain the efficient and wise stewardship of your money, to ensure that project funds are directed to only the best partners, and to comply with all U.S. laws and policies which regulate international development work, ANERA has adopted the following controls.

• Annual outside financial audits of field offices by
  - PricewaterhouseCoopers | Jerusalem
  - KPMG | Beirut
  - Hawit, Fasheh & Co. | Amman

• Annual independent audits of the entire agency by Lane & Co. in Washington, DC, a well-respected firm for the nonprofit community

• U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) audits

• Screening of all funders, partners and program recipients using anti-terrorism vetting software purchased from the U.S. Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC – U.S. Treasury Dept) 

• Signatory to U.S. anti-terrorism certification procedures

• Additional vetting of project partners regarding their ability to be nonpartisan and free of hidden political agendas

• Assessment by field offices of all project partners to judge quality of their professional skill sets

• Oversight by Audit Committee of the ANERA Board of Directors

• Robust whistleblower policy and procedure in both English & Arabic

• Posting on the website of our IRS form 990

The following indicators demonstrate ANERA’s well established record of integrity and reliability:

• Recipient of funds from U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) since 1972

• Recipient of a $50 million, five-year grant from USAID, awarded in 2008

• Recipient of funds from the Canadian Agency for International Development (CIDA) in 2007-2008

• Coordinator of a multi-million dollar importation of donated medicines to Gaza and the West Bank through the Israeli authorities for decades

• Winner of Charity Navigator’s 4 Star rating for past six years, an achievement of only 2% of rated agencies in the United States

• Member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance

• Active member of InterAction, U.S. certification agency for international non-governmental organizations

• Board of Directors whose membership includes retired diplomats, international business executives, noted scholars and citizen activists

• Recipient of funds from various United Nations agencies over many years
