International Youth Day: Anera Fun Festival to Gather Youth from Different Communities

August 25, 2016 | Beirut, Lebanon – As part of festivities in accordance with the International Youth Day, American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera) is organizing a festival tomorrow, Friday August 26th, at 9:00 AM in Jeb Jannine village, West Bekaa.

This Anera Fun Festival will bring together around 300 youths between the ages of 14-24 from the Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian communities. It is held in coordination with 16 local partners in Bekaa. Themes of mutual respect, communication, health awareness and community development will be emphasized through interactive activities.

The event is part of Anera’s “Sports for Development” program, in partnership with UNICEF, with funds from the German Cooperation and UK Aid. Similar events will take place in south and north Lebanon in the upcoming week, also in celebration of International Youth Day.

Anera prioritizes engaging young people in its programs, and has reached more than 35,000 youths in the past three years. The current sports program is expected to reach 19,000 youths of different nationalities throughout the country.
