Anera Prepares Young People for Employment in Jordan
In Jordan, opportunity is becoming something young people can see, train for and build a future around. Through Anera’s HIRE project, dozens of young men and women are stepping into Jordan’s hospitality and tourism sector with practical skills, professional training and renewed confidence. From lifeguarding and housekeeping to front desk services and food and beverage training, the project is helping participants turn potential into employment and showing how one opportunity can change everything.
Today, we are in the Aqaba region. But this is not an ordinary trip. The purpose of this journey is to discover one of Anera’s standout projects, one that shows how a simple opportunity can completely change a person’s life.
We visited Anera’s HIRE project, implemented in partnership with FATE Foundation. This project provides young people with practical training and real job opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector.
“I enrolled in the lifeguard training course. At the moment, I am the only girl in the program. But I hope that in the future, I will see more girls joining,” one participant told us. “I personally benefited a lot from it, especially in physical fitness and strengthening my confidence and personality.”
Another young participant training in hospitality spoke with us as well. “Right now, I am training as a front desk receptionist. Our role at Al Mina Hotel is to learn how to welcome guests, manage bookings and handle receptions professionally.”
The project currently supports 82 participants across four training brackets: lifeguarding, housekeeping, food and beverage services, and reception. So far, 70 participants have successfully secured job opportunities.
“I first heard about this training through one of my friends. I registered for the course at the hotel, trained there, and it turned out to be a very valuable opportunity.”
“I learned a lot from the experience. After completing the training, I was able to get a job at a pizza restaurant.”
Projects like this are the beginning of a path for young people who are striving for a real opportunity to work.
