Ceasefire Begins in Lebanon as Thousands Remain in Shelters
Posted in:Â Video
A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon began this week. But for many families across Lebanon, the reality won’t change overnight.
With homes destroyed and entire neighborhoods in ruins, thousands will remain in collective shelters or out in the open, uncertain of what comes next. Behind every displacement is a family trying to rebuild, to find safety, to hold on to dignity.
Anera is still on the ground, continuing to deliver meals, clean water, medical support, and essential supplies to those who need them most. Because even when the bombs stop, the need doesn’t.
More than one million people have been displaced in Lebanon, and nearly 350,000 of them are children. More than 140,000 people are in collective shelters, thousands more are sleeping in tents or out in the open.
Last week, more than 100 strikes hit lebanon in just 10 minutes, bringing widespread destruction to the capital. Those strikes, followed by the expansion of the evacuation zone in Beirut brought even more people to the streets. Since the escalation, more than 2,000 lives have been lost and nearly 7,000 people have been injured. Every number is a story and a family in search of safety.
“We came here to the Biel area,” one man says. “There was nothing here. People started offering help, but it wasn’t enough. so we decided to set up tents, install solar power and try to move forward with our lives.”
For families who fled with nothing, Anera’s supplies and distributions mean warmth, dignity, and reassurance. But the need is growing every day. Your support can bring relief to families tonight. Stand with Lebanon, donate now.
