Anera Opens a New Primary Healthcare Center in Gaza City
Amid the devastation of war in Gaza City, Anera has opened a brand new health clinic to provide lifesaving care to a population in crisis. Built by our Gaza team with the help of local builders, this new facility is modeled on our successful clinics in Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah. With health facilities across Gaza in ruins or barely functioning, this center opens at a time of urgent and growing need.
Setting up the facility under siege, without stable electricity or reliable supply lines, required extraordinary effort. Every detail of the clinic has been carefully designed – from the placement of a water barrel to the layout of specialized treatment areas. Divided into dedicated spaces for general and specialty care, the clinic also includes a pharmacy, systems for safe medicine distribution, and a thoughtful schedule to manage patient flow.
One ingenuous way that our staff overcomes shortages of all kinds is to make basic furniture, such as chairs and tables, by making them out of the recycled wooden pallets used for delivering medicines.
The First Two Days at Anera’s New Gaza City Clinic
In its first two days of operation, Anera’s new Gaza City clinic provided medical care to 320 patients.
On day one, the clinic treated 133 patients, including children needing pediatric care, individuals with chronic conditions seen in internal medicine, and patients requiring wound care and urology services. By day two, another 187 people received treatment, with many coming in for orthopedic issues, surgical consultations, and ENT care.
This strong start reflects both the scale of need and the commitment of our medical teams, who are delivering care under incredibly difficult conditions.

Securing Medicines Under Fire
Launching a clinic in Gaza requires more than a facility and trained personnel – it demands supplies. On May 12, Anera pharmacist Ahmad Najjar and a colleague from our Khan Younis clinic braved active military operations to access Anera’s Gaza City distribution center. After over a month of denied access and repeated evacuations, they successfully retrieved a shipment of medications that had run out in most clinics.
Their successful mission means we now have enough medicine to support the Gaza City clinic for at least six weeks. It was a dangerous undertaking, but one driven by the urgency of patient needs and the bravery of our staff.

Care That Can’t Wait
This new Anera clinic in Gaza City offers specialized care in wound management, laser therapy for burns, urology, orthopedics, physiotherapy and home visits, nutrition support, pediatrics, internal medicine, and deworming for children. In a place where survival itself has become an act of resistance, Anera remains committed to delivering care with dignity. This clinic is more than a building – it’s a symbol of solidarity, strength and hope.
