Overview of Anera’s Recovery and Emergency Response in Lebanon

You may think Lebanon's crisis is over, it's not.

Ongoing air strikes and evacuation orders, and today, nearly 1 million people remain displaced, including 130,000 still living in collective shelters and refugee camps. Entire villages are still empty, farmlands destroyed and livelihoods gone.

Since the beginning of the crisis, Anera has reached over 980,000 individuals, most of them are women and children, providing what matters most.

Over 865,000 meals delivered, including hot and cold meals, ready to eat food, and fresh produce across Lebanon, including six convoys delivering fresh produce and water to isolated villages in southern Lebanon that had been cut off from the rest of the country. More than $400,000 worth of medical donations, helped strengthen health care services, including medicine, medical supplies, ventilators, and portable ultrasound devices. More than 440,000 relief items were distributed, including hygiene kits, clothing, and bedding items. But emergency relief was only the beginning.

As displacement continued, so did Anera's support. Five water filters and three shower units were installed in collective shelters hosting thousands of displaced people. 163 psychosocial support sessions helped people cope with the emotional toll of displacement, and through student led initiatives, nearly 19,000 haircuts brought comfort, dignity, and a sense of normalcy. Anera also supported 200 farmers with cash assistance and agricultural inputs. We also restored two firefighting vehicles, helping deliver water to 10 collective shelters while remaining ready around the clock for rescue and emergency response missions.

Today, the next chapter begins, recovery. Two new solar systems are already providing reliable energy to more than 2,000 residents while cutting fuel costs by 70% in Ain Ebel and Ain Kfarzabad. Support also reached displaced Palestinian families alongside efforts to upgrade dialysis units in Palestinian Red Crescent Society hospitals and provide much needed medications. And soon, Anera will help restore critical water systems in southern Lebanon, improving access for more than 700,000 subscribers.
