Anera Names New Director of Institutional Giving

November 16, 2009 | Washington, DC Anera is pleased to announce that Courtney Spellacy is joining the headquarters staff as Director of Institutional Giving. She will be responsible for the cultivation and solicitation of funds from foundations, corporations and other non-profit organizations.

Prior to joining Anera, Spellacy was Major Gifts Officer for ActionAid International where she coordinated fundraising and development programs with field staff. ActionAid is active in 50 countries with a combined global budget of about $670 million. Spellacy also worked for several years at the International Women’s Democracy Center in Washington, DC and in Accra, Ghana with the Ark Foundation.

Courtney has a deep commitment to promoting development with dignity, said Anera President Bill Corcoran. Her wide and varied experience in international fundraising will help us find new ways to improve the lives of thousands of families throughout the Middle East.

Originally from Minnesota, Spellacy earned an MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University in Washington DC. She has been an active member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals.

For more than 40 years, Anera has been a leading provider of development, health, education and employment programs to Palestinian communities and impoverished families throughout the Middle East. In FY 2009, the relief and development agency delivered more than $50 million of programs to the people of the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan.
