Anera Names Vice President of Business Development

September 10,2012 – Anera (American Near East Refugee Aid) is pleased to announce that Ellen Giordano has joined the organization as vice president of new business development and fundraising. She will be responsible for generating new partnerships and revenue sources to support the expansion of Anera projects in the Middle East.

“The hiring of Ellen answers a major need in the evolution of Anera,” says Anera president Bill Corcoran. “She is a true development professional who also brings to Anera a strong commitment to humanitarian work.”

Before joining Anera, Ellen was director of new business development at Creative Associates in Washington, DC, where she managed new business development for the international education division. She was also a member of the senior management team, responsible for a portfolio of education projects in 17 countries.

Ellen previously worked as country director in Armenia for Save the Children, as director of development for a small US non-profit organization and for more than five years as chief of party on a variety of USAID projects.

A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, Ellen Giordano studied international relations at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques and received a MA in International Studies at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS).

For more than 43 years, Anera has been a leading non-profit provider of development, health, education and employment programs to Palestinian communities and impoverished families throughout the Middle East. In FY 2011, the relief and development agency delivered more than $65 million of programs to the people of the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan.
