Anera Partners with Egyptian Food Bank for Ramadan Assistance to Palestinians in Egypt
CAIRO, Egypt (Feb. 24, 2026) — Anera, a leading humanitarian and development organization supporting vulnerable communities in the Middle East, is launching its first-ever partnership initiative in Egypt, distributing food and clothing to Palestinians currently in Egypt during Ramadan. Anera is undertaking the effort in collaboration with the Egyptian Food Bank. This initiative is strategically timed to meet the peak of Ramadan needs, ensuring families can observe the holy month safely and with dignity.
Many Palestinian families displaced in Egypt face persistent food insecurity and material deprivation. These challenges are especially severe during Ramadan, when household food demands rise while income opportunities decline. In Sinai, families contend with limited access to markets, and prolonged vulnerabilities, making them heavily reliant on humanitarian support. Many households struggle to secure sufficient food for iftar and suhoor meals and often forgo essential clothing to prioritize nutrition.
“We are honored and grateful to be partnering with the Egyptian Food Bank to provide food assistance to Palestinian families in great need during the month of Ramadan,” said Anera’s CEO and president, Sean Carroll. “This, along with our continued humanitarian efforts inside Gaza, provides some desperately needed hope and sustenance to as many people as we can.”
This new initiative aims to ensure that conflict-affected Palestinian families in Egypt, especially in Sinai, have immediate access to sufficient food and essential clothing in Ramadan by distributing culturally appropriate humanitarian assistance that protects life, health and dignity. By addressing urgent food and non-food needs during Ramadan, the collaboration between Anera and the Egyptian Food Bank alleviates immediate hardship, safeguards household dignity, and reduces reliance on harmful coping strategies during this critical period.
“This initiative marks a significant milestone for Anera as we partner with the Egyptian Food Bank to assist Palestinians in Egypt,” said Anera’s country director for Palestine, Khaled Rajab. “Our objective is to help vulnerable Palestinian households in Sinai to observe Ramadan with dignity, ensuring access to both essential food and clothing while alleviating immediate hardship.”
To achieve these objectives, the initiative will provide:
- 2,500 food parcels containing staple items suitable for Ramadan consumption
- 2,500 essential clothing parcels to address critical shortages and protect health and dignity
- 250 iftar and 250 suhoor meals, easing immediate food stress and fostering community cohesion.
