Announcing Sandra Rasheed as New Country Director in Palestine

May 20, 2022 | Ramallah, Palestine – It is with great pleasure that Anera announces the appointment of Sandra Rasheed as country director for Palestine. She officially began her tenure on April 18. For three months prior, she led Anera’s organization-wide strategic planning process for 2022-2025.

Rasheed has 28 years of experience in the development field, working for both national and international organizations including MA’AN Development Center, the Carter Center, and Save the Children. She has managed multiple projects and worked with donors including the US Agency for International Development, the European Union, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and others. She has worked on and provided oversight for programs in the sectors of children, youth, education, water, environment, community development, food security and agriculture, human rights, good governance and capacity building, gender, and economic empowerment.

“I am absolutely thrilled that Sandra is Anera’s new country director for Palestine,” says Anera President Sean Carroll. “She brings a wealth of professional experience and a personal background that is exactly what we need to build on Anera’s long time work in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza. Anera is an American organization and our country director in Palestine has always been an American. For the first time, the director is also Palestinian. Her knowledge of and commitment to the welfare of her community will make Anera and our programs even stronger.”

“I am proud and honored to be joining Anera,” says Rasheed. “I wholeheartedly believe in their mission and the work that they are doing, and I am excited to be joining and leading this impactful team of professionals who accomplish so very much, despite the ever-expanding obstacles in Gaza and the West Bank.”

Ms. Rasheed is a dual U.S. and Palestinian citizen and resides in Ramallah.
