WASHINGTON (April 16, 2026) — Anera is pleased to announce that Robert Barron has joined the organization this week as its first policy and government relations advisor. In this new role, Robert will support Anera in maintaining communication with policy makers and provide strategic analysis on political developments in and regarding the countries where Anera works.

“This is a critical period for international aid organizations, particularly those working in the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. We are thrilled to have Robert join the Anera team as we continue to navigate the complex and evolving needs of the communities we support. Robert brings his expertise and analysis, along with strong knowledge of and networks in policy-making in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and beyond and will help to lead Anera in its efforts to address the development and relief needs of the displaced and other vulnerable communities,” said Anera President and CEO Sean Carroll.

Robert brings more than seven years of experience from the United States Institute of Peace, where he most recently served as senior program officer. In that role, he led research, programming and multi-stakeholder initiatives focused on the Middle East, working closely with U.S. government agencies, international partners and civil society to advance conflict resolution efforts.

At Anera, Robert will serve as a resource to policymakers and stakeholders, helping to advance understanding of humanitarian conditions and community development programming in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. He will build and maintain relationships across congressional offices, executive branch agencies and diplomatic channels, while monitoring political and policy developments that may affect humanitarian and development access and operations.

Robert holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service and is proficient in Arabic, with extensive on-the-ground experience in the Middle East. He is also a co-author of an upcoming book on U.S. diplomacy and regional dynamics.
