Restoring Water for Gaza Families
“Sometimes it took us four to five days to get a few drops,” says Wafa Shabat, describing what life was like without a reliable water connection in Beit Hanoun, Gaza.
Anera’s Urgent Water Systems Repair project supported by Islamic Relief USA restored pipes and networks to 12,000 families in war-ravaged areas of Gaza, like Beit Hanoun, Shejaiya, Mughraqa, Deir Al Balah, Sawarha and Nuseirat. The project also involved building and upgrading sanitation systems, which have been lacking in many of these neighborhoods for several years.
Now that the connection is restored, there is enough water for Gaza families to have it available when they need it.
