Solar Energy Installation in Bekaa

Posted in: ,

With summer approaching and diesel prices doubling due to war in Lebanon, private power generation is becoming increasingly unaffordable for many in the Bekaa area. Anera is helping relieve this burden by implementing solar energy to give power back to more than 1,000 beneficiaries. Learn more below.

With diesel prices doubling and the rising cost of generator subscriptions, especially in the Bekaa, residents in Ain Kfarzabad, like many across Lebanon, have long relied on expensive private generators, making electricity a major burden in an already marginalized region.

In response, Anera introduced a solution through its revolving fund, providing financing and technical support to municipalities to implement solar energy projects, with upfront costs covered and repaid over time in installments. According to technical assessments, the project is expected to reduce diesel consumption by 70% while providing continuous electricity to more than 1,000 beneficiaries, with numbers expected to rise.

For the municipality, this fulfills a promise to deliver 24-hour electricity and represents a major step toward dignified living, recognizing electricity and water as essential needs. In Ain Kfarzabad, solar energy is no longer just an alternative, but a long-term investment in the village’s future, with similar models already implemented by Anera in communities across Lebanon.
