Staff Safety and Program Continuity Across Anera’s Areas of Operation

Posted in:

Anera is closely monitoring the escalating crisis across the Middle East, which has already caused deaths, displacement, movement restrictions and heightened public concern. Military activity and closures are affecting daily life for civilians and humanitarian workers alike. Anera is taking active steps to protect staff and adapt operations to sustain essential services for communities in need.

In Lebanon, airstrikes have forced many residents to flee. Staff in affected areas evacuated early this morning and are staying with relatives; all personnel are safe. Travel has been extremely difficult, schools have moved online, and staff are working remotely. Emergency relocation support and enhanced communication and safety systems are in place. In the West Bank, road checkpoints are closed, schools are online, and staff are working from home. Our Gaza operations remain stable. All crossings permitting aid into Gaza are now closed, which will deepen existing shortages. In Jordan, public concern and a temporary airport closure have prompted remote work options for staff.

Across all locations, daily security and operational reviews are guiding our program decisions. Teams in Lebanon and parts of the West Bank are relying on remote coordination and local partnerships to continue reaching communities. Recent Ramadan food distributions are still on track to successfully serve more than two million people across Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan. Anera is assessing the emergency response funds available, and making plans to support displaced families and mobilize additional food assistance if needed.

The situation remains fluid. Anera continues to monitor developments closely, prioritizing staff safety while sustaining life-saving support for communities across the region.
