Kesrwane-Jbeil Governorate | محافظة كسروان-جبيل
The newest governorate in Lebanon, Kesrwane-Jbeil was established in 2017, removing the area from the Mount Lebanon governorate. Home to the famed ancient port city of Jbeil, more widely known in English as Byblos, this scenic governorate is known for its beaches and skiing and has long been a hotspot for domestic and international tourism. Byblos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world. The Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve is also located in the territory.
Given the relative absence of acutely vulnerable populations, Anera has conducted minimal programming over the years in Kesrwane-Jbeil. The overwhelmingly Maronite Christian region hosts no Palestinian refugee camps and few Syrian refugees.
Medical aid
Since the late 2000s, Anera has periodically partnered with dozens of local hospitals and health clinics in Kesrwane-Jbeil to support vulnerable patients through our medical aid program. We have delivered donated medicines and medical supplies to healthcare providers, including the Charitable Dispensary Islamic Center in Jbeil, Kartaba Governmental Hospital, the Zeytoun Charitable Dispensary and many others, to help ensure that vulnerable patients in the area can receive proper medical care.

Community
From 2005 to 2008, Anera implemented a program to bolster Lebanon’s hospitality industry by supporting small inns, guesthouses, and hotels across Lebanon, including in Kesrwane-Jbeil. The attractions of the governorate make the area a natural location for supporting hospitality initiatives. The Developing the Hospitality Industry’s Abilities-Fostering Economic Expansion (DHIAFEE) program (pronounced diyafa, meaning ‘hospitality’ in Arabic) provided business training and other forms of support to help these small local businesses upgrade their services and attract guests. Six Kesrwane-Jbeil businesses participated in the program: Auberge Suisse and Auberge Beity in Kfardebian, Camping Les Colombes Hotel in Amchit, Coin Vert Hotel in Faraya, El Hachem Guesthouse in Aaqoura, and CHAL House Farm in Lassa.
