How Anera and HPIC Are Supporting Children with Cancer in Lebanon
At the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon, every child deserves the chance to continue their fight against cancer without interruption. Through a partnership between Anera and Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC), a new shipment of essential pediatric oncology medicines is helping make that possible.
The donation includes chemotherapy medicines alongside supportive medications that help prevent infections, manage treatment side effects, and improve children's comfort throughout their cancer journey. Together, these medicines help ensure uninterrupted treatment and strengthen pediatric oncology services in Lebanon during a time of continued economic hardship.
As parents, accepting a childhood cancer diagnosis is the hardest thing you can ever face"
Finding Strength Through Leila
For Rawan, a 33-year-old Lebanese mother of three, life changed forever when her daughter Leila was diagnosed with leukemia at just four years old.
"Leila is energetic, incredibly smart, and so strong," Rawan says. "She's six now and dreams of becoming a chef. She always says she's a master at cooking, even though she doesn't cook yet, and her favorite thing is going grocery shopping."
After returning from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, the family received Leila's diagnosis and immediately began treatment at the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon.
"As parents, accepting a childhood cancer diagnosis is the hardest thing you can ever face," Rawan says. "But step by step, Leila learned to accept the hospital visits, the treatments, and the needles."
It was Leila's courage that carried the family through.
"Honestly, we only found the strength to accept this situation because Leila gave it to us. Watching her fight with so much courage is what keeps us moving forward every single day."
“From the very first day, CCCL stood by us. We never felt alone. They gave Leila the treatment she needed and gave us the hope and strength to keep going.”
Today, thanks to dedicated medical care and uninterrupted access to essential cancer medicines, children like Leila can continue treatment while holding onto their dreams.

Aya's Journey Toward Recovery
CCCL became a second home for us. They supported Aya through every stage of her treatment and lifted a burden no family should have to carry alone.”
Ensuring Every Child Can Continue Treatment
Reliable access to chemotherapy and supportive medicines is essential for children undergoing cancer treatment. Interruptions can delay care, increase complications, and place additional stress on families already facing unimaginable challenges.
Through our partnership with HPIC, we are helping ensure that children receiving treatment at the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon continue to access the lifesaving medicines they need. By strengthening pediatric oncology services during Lebanon's ongoing economic crisis, the partnership helps children continue treatment with dignity, while giving families one of the most important things they can hold onto hope.
