Delivering Essential IV Solutions and Medications With Support From Direct Relief
As Lebanon faces the uncertainties of war, Direct Relief has once again demonstrated unwavering support by delivering critical medical supplies to hospitals across the country. This latest donation, includes more than 4,000 IV solutions and over 1,000 treatments of IV and oral medications, strengthening hospitals' preparedness during this emergency.
“We would face a severe shortage without these donations," says Elias Massaad, director of Jezzine Governmental Hospital, emphasizing the life-saving importance of these supplies. "IV solutions are essential for our daily operations, even before the war. Now, with the influx of displaced patients, they are more critical than ever."
“We would face a severe shortage without these donations."
“The need for IV solutions is critical — without them, the consequences for patients could be life-threatening”, said Nada Sweide, a registered nurse at Jezzine Governmental Hospital.
“After the war started, we saw a significant increase in accidents and illnesses. The war has brought unprecedented challenges to Lebanon's healthcare sector, with displaced populations increasing the burden on hospitals. Medical supplies are harder to secure due to disrupted supply chains and economic pressures, making these donations essential to saving lives.”
These essential donations from Direct Relief directly address the immediate needs of hospitals struggling under the weight of the crisis. The supplies are being distributed to facilities nationwide, enabling them to continue providing care to a growing number of patients.
A Lifeline During Uncertain Times
This contribution comes at a pivotal moment. The war’s end remains unknown, and the prolonged conflict only exacerbates the strain on all sectors, particularly healthcare. The need for reliable access to medical supplies has never been more urgent.
“Our country is going through incredibly hard times,” Massaad says. "While we request everything we need from the Ministry of Public health, we are grateful for the critical support from organizations like Direct Relief. These donations are helping us stay operational and save lives."
Despite the challenges, Lebanon’s dedicated healthcare workers continue to serve their patients. With ongoing support from international partners, hospitals like Jezzine Governmental Hospital remain a pillar of hope for communities during this crisis.
