World Music Day

June 21st is World Music Day! Music has long played a central role in Palestinian life and is an important part of Palestinian cultural identity. Unfortunately many children in Palestine have difficulty accessing music or arts education, making it difficult to keep musical traditions alive.
That is why Anera has worked with local Palestinian music, arts and cultural organizations in the West Bank and Gaza to encourage artistic expression and learning. Thanks to your support, we also organize creative activities and art classes in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon to let refugees release tensions that can build up under difficult living conditions.
We recognize that music and arts education should go hand-in-hand with academics as a way to broaden a child’s horizon and strengthen personal development. Art and music are a key element of our early childhood development initiative in Palestine. Giving people of varied languages and cultures an arts experience can help them communicate and unite in their shared humanity.
