Anera Issues Key Report on Early Childhood Education in West Bank and Gaza
Washington, DC In his 2014 State of the Union speech, US President Barack Obama underscored the importance of educating young children: Research shows that one of the best investments we can make in a childs life is high-quality early education.
Palestinian educators are committed to the same goal. The challenges are many. Malnutrition and ill health plague children under five, many of whom suffer from anemia.
Three out of four Palestinian children in East Jerusalem, for example, live in poverty. Attending a preschool is an elusive dream. There are only four public no-fee preschools in all of the West Bank and Gaza.
