Anera Condemns Evacuations of Health Facilities

Posted in:

The Israeli Government has again called for hospitals in the northern parts of Gaza to evacuate to the south. This means everyone — patients in ICUs, babies in neonatal units, those that were fighting chronic health and other life-threatening diseases prior to the war, and the thousands of people who have been injured in the attacks.

Anera strongly condemns any attacks on Gaza hospitals and evacuation orders in violation of principles of humanitarian and human rights law, as they jeopardize the protection of wounded and sick individuals.

Already, since the war began on October 7, 2023, 19 healthcare facilities have been rendered nonfunctional because of airstrikes. Currently there are approximately 400,000 people displaced and moved to the south of Gaza.

Anera condemns the evacuation order and calls for its immediate revocation. We call on the global community to hold all parties to the standards of international human rights law and commit to the protection of hospitals, medical facilities and healthcare workers.
