During the first week of Anera’s emergency response in Lebanon, more than 43,792 people, including over 12,000 children, received emergency assistance through distributions in collective shelters and affected communities. Support included beddings, mattresses, hygiene kits, bottled water, and ready-to-eat food parcels to help families meet their most immediate needs.

Today in Akkar, we distributed 12 mattresses to individuals at Halba Official Vocational School. In the coming days, we will continue more distributions to support people staying in collective shelters.

In Saida, South Lebanon, UNICEF in partnership with Anera distributed 250 female hygiene kits, including diapers and battery-powered lights, to displaced families. Access to hygiene supplies is essential for dignity and health, while portable lights help families feel safer during the night.
As displacement continues to grow, these small but essential items can make a meaningful difference for families facing the first difficult days of displacement.

And in Saida and Nabatieh this morning, we delivered 1,350 packs of bottled drinking water to displaced families.

February 28-March 1, 2026
The U.S. and Israel began launching coordinated military strikes against multiple targets in Iran, including strategic and military infrastructure in cities such as Tehran and others. In response, Iran has launched missile attacks towards Israel and reportedly targeted US military assets in several Gulf states, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq and the UAE. Explosions and heightened alert levels have been reported in multiple locations across the region including Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan.
Anera is closely monitoring the escalating crisis, which has already caused deaths, displacement, movement restrictions and heightened public concern. Military activity and closures are affecting daily life for civilians and humanitarian workers alike. Anera is taking active steps to protect staff and adapt operations to sustain essential services for communities in need.
In Lebanon, airstrikes have forced many residents to flee. Anera’s staff in affected areas successfully evacuated. All personnel are safe.
Our teams are continuing in assisting Ramadan distributions in Lebanon. The situation remains fluid. Anera will continue to monitor developments closely, prioritizing staff safety while sustaining life-saving support for communities across the region.
