Anera provides solar power to a historic Lebanese market

Posted in:

Come to one of the most beautiful towns in Lebanon, home to the Citadel of Independence and one of the oldest souks in the country. There’s food products like grape molasses, handcrafts, and amazing people.

But where is “here”?

Rachaya Al Wadi. Although historic, it suffered a lot during recent crises and war. With support from UNICEF, Anera has provided a solar-powered lighting system, saving the town thousands of dollars in energy bills.

Local youths worked on the installation after receiving vocational training. Now the ancient market is open longer hours and is safer to navigate.
