How Reverse Osmosis Desalination Works

Reverse osmosis is a water treatment process that removes contaminants from water by using pressure to force water molecules through a semipermeable membrane. During this process, the contaminants are filtered out and flushed away, leaving clean drinking water.

Anera has installed 25 – and counting! – reverse osmosis systems across Gaza. The water that goes into the systems is dirty and salty. But the water that comes out is clean and drinkable.

We have an amazing engineer we work with on these impactful systems. His name is Mahmoud Sulaiman and he walks us through how it works in the below film.
