How You Can Support Palestine and Palestinians
With everything that is happening in East Jerusalem, Gaza, the West Bank and Israel, you may be wondering what you can do to help in some way. We hope this page will be helpful to you. There is more than one way to engage, and donating is just a start. It’s also about educating yourself and others and showing moral support.
Educate yourself about Palestine
From movies and literature to blogs and informative news sources, there is a lot of information out there about Palestine and the current situation. We have put together a short list of our favorites. Whether you’re just getting started or have worked in Palestine for years, we hope there’s something for you in this list to inspire you to learn and explore further.
Tap into some Palestinian advocacy-oriented organizations
What Anera does as a non-political, non-sectarian humanitarian organization happens in parallel with what other worthy organizations are doing. We therefore share this list of some nonprofits that are engaged in other aspects of work in and for Palestine.
Write a message of support to our Gaza staff
Our staff in Gaza are undergoing yet another bombardment of catastrophic proportions. They are suffering and scared for their lives, more so than in any of the other attacks they’ve been forced to endure. It would mean so much to get messages of support from the Anera community of supporters. Please write them a message and we will deliver it to them!
Spread the word about what’s going on
Be sure to follow Anera’s work on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter channels and share our regularly updated content on our website (you might want to check out these pages in particular: updates on the crisis in Palestine, situation reports, and The Olive Press blog).
Donate to support our response in Gaza
Anera’s response will come in a couple of phases, just as soon as it’s safe for our Gaza team to go out into the streets. First, we’ll immediately get to work delivering aid in the form of medicines, food, kits filled with necessities, water, and fuel vouchers. And next, in the longer term, we’ll move rapidly to repair damage to water/sanitation networks, health facilities, farms, homes and preschools. Give now to support our Gaza’s team’s work.
Other ways to give:
- Stock Gifts: Gifts of appreciated stock to Anera continue to be crucial for our work and have major tax and cash flow advantages for our donors.
- Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), also known as IRA Charitable Rollovers, are the savviest way for individuals age 70.5 or older to use their IRAs to maximize their charitable impact.
- Workplace Giving: Contact your personnel department at work to find out whether your employer matches charitable donations of employees. Anera usually meets most company eligibility requirements as it is a registered 501(c)3 organization.
