Anera is devastated to share the news that our colleague, Mahmoud Rassrass, was killed overnight on June 17, 2025, along with two of his young children, in an Israeli drone strike on their tent in Mawasi, Khan Younis, an area designated by Israel as a “safe zone.” We are mourning the loss of our beloved psychosocial support coordinator.

After a five-day pause to our water trucking program due to the lack of fuel, today we were able to secure enough fuel to resume our efforts. We distributed 18,492 gallons (70,000 liters) of potable drinking water to displaced families in North Gaza today.

The gynecologist at our at our mother and child health clinic reports that some women are refusing to take the multivitamins prescribed for them. They tell us: “When we take vitamins, we feel hungry and need to eat. But we have no food to quiet our stomachs. So please, let us keep this fake feeling of fullness.”
At our mother and child health clinics, from June 1 through today we distributed 25,2118 boxes of therapeutic food to 1,059 children to mitigate malnutrition (the pouches are known as ready-to-use complementary food — a nutrient dense food specially formulated to prevent chronic malnutrition in very young children. We also distributed 251 boxes of lipid-based nutritional supplements to 5,020 children.
These food supplies are made possible with support from UNICEF. These supplements are designed for emergency interventions to prevent malnutrition. In the absence of whole foods in Gaza, the supplements are now being distributed by humanitarian workers so that children have something to eat.
