Consolidated Updates, April 18-23, 2026
During the reporting period, Anera sustained multi-sector humanitarian operations across Gaza and the West Bank, delivering food assistance, healthcare, livelihoods support, and protection services amid ongoing instability.
Gaza
In Gaza, Anera continued food distributions at scale. In addition to World Food Programme-supported activities, 630 vegetable baskets were distributed across Khan Younis, the middle area and Gaza City, with each 8 kg parcel supporting a family of six for approximately five days. Hot meal provision also continued, with 17,159 meals distributed across targeted shelters over a two-day period, alongside 1,827 fresh produce baskets for displaced households.
Access to safe water remained a priority. Anera distributed 960 cubic meters of potable water during the week, primarily in Khan Younis and the Middle Area. Distribution in Gaza City was temporarily suspended due to security concerns affecting water sources in Al-Shuja’iyya but is expected to resume. An additional 140 cubic meters of potable water were delivered to community shelters, alongside 19 hygiene promotion sessions reaching 617 participants.

Healthcare services continued through both static clinics and outreach. Anera provided health services to 8,106 beneficiaries, including 4,000 patients through primary healthcare clinics and 3,045 through mother and child health services. Mobile outreach teams also reached 1,061 children with screenings and basic care. Complementary health activities included seven health days serving 469 patients, while procurement for essential medicines remains ongoing.
Education and psychosocial support programming expanded across shelters and temporary learning spaces. Anera supported 1,151 students through education programs, distributed 65 education kits, and engaged 187 children, including children with disabilities, in psychosocial support sessions. Women’s empowerment efforts included training 15 women on food safety, hygiene, and basic management skills.

Livelihood and early recovery efforts are advancing despite constraints. Preparatory work has been finalized for a large-scale cleaning and sterilization campaign set to begin on May 1 across nine displacement camps, creating temporary employment for 216 individuals. Meanwhile, the We Can project has reached near completion, with 54 of 55 small businesses receiving tools and equipment, alongside ongoing coaching to support long-term sustainability.
West Bank
In the West Bank, Anera continued to invest in women’s economic empowerment and livelihoods. An assessment of 344 previous “Women Can” participants is underway to identify 40 women eligible for additional grant support. Selection for a new cohort in Hebron is ongoing in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development. Anera also initiated discussions with Al-Zaytouna microfinance institution to explore an Islamic banking compliant pilot program.
Healthcare programming in the West Bank reached a cumulative 15,532 beneficiaries through recently concluded mobile clinic initiatives. In parallel, agricultural support activities continued, including the distribution of summer crop seedlings and reinforcement measures to mitigate weather-related damage. Planning and procurement are also underway for the first year of the rooftop garden project.

Across both Gaza and the West Bank, Anera continues to adapt programming to evolving conditions, maintaining critical service delivery while laying the groundwork for longer-term recovery and resilience.

Communities across Palestine are facing mounting crises as violence, economic strain and environmental challenges converge.
In the West Bank, rising attacks and land seizures are deepening insecurity, even as global attention shifts elsewhere. In Gaza, halted aid flows, fuel shortages and rising prices are cutting off access to food, water and essential services. At the same time, critical medicine supplies are running dangerously low, and uncollected waste is fueling serious public health risks.
The situation is rapidly evolving, and needs are growing. Read more about what’s happening in Palestine, based on reports from Anera staff.
