In this log, Anera provides updates on unfolding war in Palestine and our response. In some cases, additional activities may be added retroactively to the daily entries as we receive additional program reporting.

June 30, 2024

Anera’s Gaza team today collectively prepared and distributed 69,000 hot meals through our tekias (community kitchens):

  • North tekia: 30,000 hot meals provided
  • Deir Al Balah: 22,500 meals
  • Khan Younis: 16,500 meals

We also distributed 1,550 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Rafah, Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah, providing enough food to support 34,100 meals. And the team delivered WFP food parcels to 457 families containing enough food to make 32,612 meals. In partnership with World Central Kitchen, Anera distributed 130,000 ready-to-eat meals in the north and Gaza City. Each family received 15 meals to last them for two days.

With support from the International Rescue Committee, Anera worked in 10 shelters in central Gaza to provide 1,787 children, aged 4 to 11, and 266 of their parents, with recreational and fun activities. We also supported 730 older children with structured psychosocial activities.

June 29, 2024

Today, our Gaza team provided a total of 32,700 hot meals from our tekias (community kitchens) in Khan Younis and the middle area:

  • Khan Younis: Provided 20,700 meals, including fresh bread
  • Deir Al Balah: 12,000 meals, including fresh bread

We also distributed enough fresh produce across Rafah, Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah to make 46,200 meals. And the team delivered WFP food parcels to 834 families containing enough food to make 59,514 meals. In partnership with World Central Kitchen, Anera distributed 130,000 ready-to-eat meals to most displaced families from Shejaiya and other areas, in the north. Our distribution included churches and some partners hospitals.

Anera’s health team in Gaza implemented a wound management clinic in Khan Younis, treating 125 patients. At our non-communicable disease clinic, medical professionals saw 72 patients. And, at our mother and child health clinic, in partnership with UNICEF, nine patients met with a general practitioner, 53 by a pediatrician, and 20 by a gynecologist. Nutritional counseling was provided to all attendees, and three women received individual psychological counseling. Additionally, in collaboration with Heal Palestine, we organized a health day for internally displaced persons in one shelter, distributing high energy biscuits to the children who came.

June 28, 2024

Today, our Gaza team provided a total of 41,200 meals from our tekias (community kitchens) in North Gaza and Mawasi, Khan Younis in the south.

  • North Gaza: Provided 30,000 meals.
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis – Abu Jarrah: Provided 4,500 meals.
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis – Sanabel: Provided 4,500 meals with meat and an additional 2,200 vegetarian meals.

There were no healthcare activities today at our wound management and NCD clinic, as today is Friday and our medical staff is off, taking a much-deserved rest day.

As our dedicated team in Gaza continues to work tirelessly during these challenging times, they have made significant strides in delivering essential food aid, healthcare services, and psychosocial support.

Food Aid

Meal Distribution

  • North Gaza tekia: 30,000 meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis tekias:
    • Abu Jarad Tekia: 4,500 meals and 6 bags of flour (5,400 loaves of bread)
    • Sanabel Tekia: 4,500 meals
    • Fish Fresh Tekia: 4,500 meals
  • Sanabel tekia: 2,200 meals (rice and vegetables)

Vegetable Basket Distribution

  • Rafah/South Khan Younis: 300 parcels/baskets (13,500 meals)
  • Khan Younis: 300 parcels/baskets (13,500 meals)

Additional Food Aid Distributions

We received five trucks from WCK at our distribution center in Gaza City carrying ready-to-eat meals. The exact number of total meals is still being determined as we are in the inventory phase.

In Khan Younis, we distributed WFP ready-to-eat meals to 573 households, providing a total of 40,889 meals. These meals are essential in meeting the immediate nutritional needs of families affected by the current crisis.

Additionally, we distributed 320 boxes of WFP high-energy biscuits, with each box containing 45 packs. These biscuits are a crucial source of energy, particularly for those who may not have consistent access to other food sources.

Today across Gaza, a total of 112,989 meals were provided, including hot meals, fresh produce and ready-to-eat meals.

Psychosocial Support, Recreational, and Learning Activities

Yesterday, Anera operated in 12 shelters, engaging 2,024 children and 347 parents in recreational activities. Additionally, structured psychosocial support activities were conducted for 950 older children.

On Tuesday, June 25th, Anera worked in 13 shelters, running recreational activities involving 2,352 young children and 339 parents. Structured psychosocial support activities were provided for 1,055 older children. This data has just become available, prompting our update.

Healthcare Services in Gaza

Wound Management Clinic

Today, we successfully implemented our wound management clinic in Khan Younis. The clinic saw a total of 102 cases, comprising 32 new cases and 70 follow-ups. This service is crucial in providing ongoing care for those who have sustained injuries, ensuring they receive the necessary attention and treatment to facilitate their recovery.

NCD Clinic

In addition to the wound management clinic, our NCD clinic also operated today, witnessing 19 cases. Of these, 16 were follow-ups for previously diagnosed conditions, and 3 were suspected cases that will require further evaluation and care. The clinic continues to be a vital resource for managing chronic diseases and maintaining the health of our community members.

Medical Supply Distribution

Today marked the completion of an important distribution in Gaza. We successfully delivered a shipment from a new donor, World Emergency Relief (WER), to five of our recipients, which included three hospitals and two clinics. The shipment contained more than 11,000 tubes of diclofenac gel, a much-needed resource for alleviating pain in injured individuals. This donation will significantly aid in the relief of pain and discomfort for many patients.

Today, we collectively prepared and distributed 78,000 meals through our community kitchens:

  • North tekias: 30,000
  • Middle area tekia: 7,500 hot meals
  • Khan Younis tekia: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis tekia 1: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis Tekia 2: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis oPt funded kitchen: 15,000 hot meals
  • Middle area oPt funded kitchen: 12,000

We also distributed 1,800 fresh produce baskets (750 in Rafah, 750 in Khan Younis, and 300 in the middle area) to displaced people in Rafah, Khan Younis, and the middle area, providing enough food to support 39,600 meals.

Between hot meals and fresh produce, we provided a total of 117,600 meals.

Today in Gaza City, we distributed an additional 900 Eid boxes for the children.

At our wound management clinic today, we attended to 145 cases, including 47 new cases and 38 follow-ups. Additionally, 34 patients visited the NCD clinic today, including 26 patients who had already been diagnosed and are continuing their follow-ups and receiving medication, one suspected case who will follow up with the doctors, and seven in good health.

June 25, 2024

Today we provided 219,536 meals, including hot meals, fresh produce and ready-to-eat packages. Through our community kitchen tekias and oPt-funded kitchens, we’ve distributed hot meals to:

  • North Gaza: 30,000 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis, Abu Jarad tekia: 4,500 meals and 5,400 loaves of flatbread
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis, Sanabel tekia: 4,500 meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis, Fish Fresh tekia: 4,500 meals
  • Deir Al Balah tekia: 7,500 meals and 4,500 loaves of flatbread
  • Sanabel oPt-funded kitchen: 3,000 meals of rice and meat. And yesterday Sanabel provided 2,200 hot meals of rice and vegetables. 
  • Nael Abu Assad : 5,000 hot meals of rice and chicken. Yesterday they provided 4,500 hot meals of rice and vegetables.

And we distributed 1,550 fresh produce baskets to Rafah, Khan Younis, and Deir Al Balah, supplying ingredients to prepare an estimated 68,200 meals.

In Khan Younis, we distributed 2,112 boxes of ready-to-eat meals provided by the World Food Program to1,056 households, supplying 75,736 meals. Note that the tally of total meals given in our infographic is now updated to account for distributions of ready-to-eat meals in the past two weeks that were not previously included. We also distributed 20,200 packs of high-energy biscuits from WFP to children under the age of five and pregnant and lactating women.

Today we hosted a wound management clinic, seeing 73 patients, including 39 new cases and 34 follow-up visits. And our noncommunicable disease clinic saw 69 patients.

Yesterday, we held psychosocial support, recreational and learning activities at 14 shelters in Khan Younis, Deir El Balah and Nuseirat, with 2,883 children and 300 parents participating, and 1,035 older children joining other structured psychosocial support activities.

June 24, 2024

Today, our team in Gaza collectively prepared and distributed 60,900 hot meals through our tekias (community kitchens):

  • North: 30,000
  • Deir Al Balah: 7,500 hot meals and 4,500 flatbread servings
  • Khan Younis tekias: 13,500 hot meals and 5,400 flatbread servings

The team also conducted recreational and psychosocial activities in nine schools and shelters, with 1,595 children participating along with 279 of their caregivers. The shelters are in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis.

The health team conducted a wound management clinic in Khan Younis, where medical personnel attended to 117 patients. They also coordinated a non-communicable disease clinic, seeing to 36 patients.

Today, our team in Gaza collectively prepared and distributed 81,900 hot meals through our tekias (community kitchens):

In Khan Younis, Anera distributed WFP food parcels to 1,200 families, providing a total of 86,064 meals.

Between hot meals, fresh produce and food parcels, we provided a total of 197,364 meals.

June 22, 2024

Anera brought the lost celebration of eid back to the children of Gaza by distributing 60,000 slushies to children after dances and performances of music at informal shelters.

Today, our team in Gaza collectively prepared and distributed 81,900 hot meals through our tekias (community kitchens):

  • North: 30,000
  • Deir Al Balah: 21,000 hot meals and 4,500 flatbread servings
  • Khan Younis tekias: 21,000 hot meals and 5,400 flatbread servings

We also distributed 1,050 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Rafah, Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah, providing enough food to support 29,400 meals.

In Khan Younis, Anera distributed WFP food parcels to 1,500 families, providing a total of 107,580 meals.

Between hot meals, fresh produce and food parcels, we provided a total of 218,880 meals.

Today in the Gaza city we distributed an 700 eid boxes for the children.

We also distributed medicines and medical supplies (47 pallets), donated from our partners IHP, Direct Relief, and World Emergency Relief to five of our health partners in Gaza City. The shipments went to the operating hospitals and clinics in Gaza at a time all health facilities are suffering from huge shortages in medicines and medical supplies. One of the recipients was Ahli Arab Hospital, one of the main operating hospitals in Gaza after the destruction of Al Shifa Hospital.

The Anera health team coordinated three different clinics: (1) a mother and child clinic, with support from UNICEF. Medical personnel, including a gynecologist, attended to 74 patients: (2) a wound management clinic in Khan Younis, where doctors treated 121 patients; and (3) a non-communicable disease clinic where 54 patients were seen to.

In addition, we distributed 1,050 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Rafah, Khan Younis, and the middle area, providing enough food to support 29,400 meals.

In Mawasi Al Qarara, Khan Younis, 1,153 households received 2,306 food parcels provided by WFP to Anera for distribution, providing a total of 82,693 meals.

Between hot meals, fresh produce and food parcels, we provided a total of 182,893 meals today.

Additional Distributions

  • North Gaza: Distributed 650 Eid boxes for children.
  • Middle Area: Distributed 1,200 1.5-liter bottles of water and 300 boxes of menstrual pads (12 packs per box), with each woman receiving 3 packs, benefiting a total of 1,200 women. This aid, provided by UNICEF, was directed to displaced people in Khan Younis. We also distributed 40 UNICEF hygiene kits, benefiting 80 families.
  • Middle Area and Khan Younis: Distributed 10,000 slushie bags to children.

Medical Services

  • Wound Management Clinic in Khan Younis: Attended to 108 cases, including 39 new cases and 69 follow-ups.
  • NCD Clinic: Attended to 37 patients, including 17 follow-ups, 15 suspected cases, and 5 in good health.
  • Mother & Child Health Clinic Project funded by UNICEF: Attended to 85 cases, including 41 children seen by a pediatrician, 25 seen by a general physician, 9 pregnant women seen by a gynecologist, 9 women received nutritional counseling, and 30 children participated in recreational activities.

Logistics

  • Middle Area Distribution Center: Received three UNICEF trucks carrying jerry cans, menstrual pads, and high-energy biscuits.
  • Gaza City Distribution Center: Received four trucks, three carrying Eid boxes and one from JCI delivering date paste.

Program Planning for Psychosocial Support Activities

After the Eid break, our team met with 60 psychosocial facilitators to plan for the next period of activities, extending to the end of July 2024. So far, we’ve completed two parts under the joint program with IRC. Facilitated by Anera Program Manager Suad Lubbad and psychosocial specialist Mahmoud Rassrass, the workshop reviewed the project’s progress and planned for the final stage, aiming to integrate recreational and psychosocial activities into our early childhood development and broader education work.

We also hosted a wound management clinic in Khan Younis today, attending to 109 patients, including 41 new cases and 68 follow-ups. Additionally, 36 patients visited our noncommunicable disease clinic today, including 20 patients who had already been diagnosed and are continuing their follow-ups and receiving medication, 10 suspected cases who will follow up with, and six people that our screening determined are in good health.

We continue to do what we can to help bring moments of joy to children in Gaza as they celebrate the eid. Today in the north we distributed an 650 eid boxes to children. In Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis, we distributed 10,000 slushies to children.

June 18, 2024

Today, we provided 98,400 meals to people in Gaza, including hot meals and fresh produce. We collectively prepared and distributed 69,000 hot meals through our community kitchens:

  • North tekias: 30,000 hot meals
  • Deir Al Balah tekia: 4,500 hot meals
  • Khan Younis tekia: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis tekia 1: 4,500 hot meals

We also distributed 1,050 fresh produce baskets in Deir Al Balah, Khan Younis and Rafah, providing enough food to support 29,400 meals.

From our distribution center in Deir Al Balah today, we distributed 3,600 packs of menstrual pads to 1,200 women (three packs per person). Additionally, we distributed 700 11-liter jerry cans for water collection and 300 boxes of high-energy biscuits. UNICEF provided this aid and Anera has distributed it to displaced people living in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis.

We also hosted a wound management clinic in Khan Younis today, seeing 69 patients, including 41 new cases and 28 follow-ups. And 61 patients visited our noncommunicable disease clinic today, including 52 who are continuing their follow-ups and receiving medication, six suspected cases, one newly confirmed case, and two people screening determined to be in good health.

As eid observances continue today, we distributed 10,000 slushies to children in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis. We also continue distributing eid boxes to children, providing 450 eid boxes to families in Gaza City today.

June 17, 2024

Today, we collectively prepared and distributed 69,000 meals through our community kitchens:

  • North Tekias: 30,000 meals
  • Middle Area Tekia: 4,500 hot meals

We implemented a wound management clinic in Khan Younis, where we attended to a total of 111 cases, including 44 new cases and 67 follow-ups. Additionally, 35 patients visited the NCD clinic, including 29 continuing follow-ups and receiving medication and 6 suspected cases who will follow up with doctors.

Anera is bringing joy to the children of Gaza by helping them celebrate Eid al-Adha. We have initiated activities at informal shelters in Khan Younis and the middle area that will continue for six days. Each day, we will distribute 10,000 slushie bags to the children.

We also continue to distribute Eid boxes for the children of Gaza. Today, we distributed an additional 800 boxes to families living in Gaza City and the north.

June 16, 2024

Today we collectively prepared and distributed 43,500 meals through our community kitchens:

  • North Tekias: 30,000 meals
  • Middle Area oPt Funded Kitchen: 13,500 meals

To date, we have received a total of 6,400 Eid boxes at our distribution center in Gaza City. On the first day of Eid Al Adha, we distributed the first batch of 400 Eid boxes to 400 families with children in the north.

Because today is the first day of Eid, our staff and network of workers are with their families. As a result, we did not conduct any psychosocial activities, nor did we operate the NCD or wound management clinics. Additionally, no distributions took place in the south.

June 15, 2024

Today, we collectively prepared and distributed 69,000 meals through our community kitchens:

  • North Tekias: 30,000 meals
  • Middle Area Tekia: 4,500 hot meals
  • Khan Younis Tekia: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis Tekia 1: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis Tekia 2: 4,500 hot meals

We implemented a wound management clinic in Khan Younis, attending to 129 cases (51 new and 78 follow-ups). Additionally, 58 patients visited the NCD clinic (49 follow-ups and 9 new patients in good health).

From our distribution center in the middle area, we provided:

  • 400 boxes of menstrual pads (12 packs/box), benefiting 1,600 women
  • 400 11-liter jerry cans for water
  • 150 hygiene kits supporting 300 families
  • 400 boxes of high-energy biscuits

This aid, provided by UNICEF, was directed to displaced people in Khan Younis and the middle area.

June 14, 2024

Today, our team in Gaza distributed food parcels from the World Food Program to 1,378 families, each receiving two parcels with enough food for 98,830 meals. The team also coordinated production and distribution of 70,500 meals through our tekias (community kitchens):

  • North: 30,000 hot meals
  • Deir Al Balah: 16,500 meals, 13,500 are OCHA funded
  • Khan Younis: 3,000 meals and 5,400 flat bread servings
  • Mawasi Khan Younis tekia: 21,000 meals, 13,500 of which are OCHA funded

June 13, 2024

Today, we collectively prepared and distributed 66,000 meals through our community kitchens:

  • North Tekias: 30,000 meals
  • Middle Area Tekia: 9,000 hot meals
  • Khan Younis Tekia: 4,500 hot meals and 5,400 servings of flatbread
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis Tekia 1: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis Tekia 2: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis oPt Funded Kitchen: 13,500 hot meals

Additionally, we distributed 2,100 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Rafah, Khan Younis, and the middle area, providing enough food for 58,800 meals.

In total, between hot meals and fresh produce, we provided 124,800 meals today.

From our distribution center in the middle area, we supplied 500 jerrycans for water collection, 500 cartons of high-energy biscuits, and 200 filled 11-liter water jugs, courtesy of UNICEF. These supplies were distributed to displaced people in the middle area and Khan Younis.

We also implemented a wound management clinic in Khan Younis, treating a total of 97 cases, including 34 new cases and 63 follow-ups. Additionally, 44 patients visited the NCD clinic today: 24 continuing their follow-ups and receiving medication, 7 suspected cases under follow-up, and 13 in good health.

June 12, 2024

Today, we provided 92,400 meals, including hot meals and fresh produce. We collectively prepared and distributed 63,000 hot meals through our community kitchen tekias:

  • North tekias: 30,000
  • Deir Al Balah tekia: 10,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis tekia 1: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis Tekia 2: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis oPt-funded kitchen: 13,500 hot meals

We also distributed 1,050 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Rafah, Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah, providing enough food to support 29,400 meals.

From our distribution center in Deir Al Balah, we distributed 2,088 jerrycans for water collection to 1,044 families (two containers per family). We also distributed 3,132 packs of menstrual pads to support the needs of 1,044 families (three packs per family). This aid was provided by UNICEF and distributed to displaced people in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis.

We also hosted a wound management clinic in Khan Younis, where we attended to 82 patients, including 42 new cases and 40 follow-ups. And 53 patients visited our noncommunicable diseases clinic today, including 35 patients who had already been diagnosed and are continuing their follow-ups and receiving medication, and 11 suspected cases currently under follow-up until confirmation, and seven in good health.

Yesterday, Anera hosted recreational activities for 1,841 children and youth across nine shelters in Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah, with 298 parents also participating.

Over the past few days, Anera has received 17 truckloads of goods provided by UNICEF at our distribution center in Deir Al Balah. The shipments contain hygiene kits, adult diapers, water, jerrycans, and menstrual pads. And today, two additional UNICEF truckloads of high-energy biscuits arrived at our distribution center in Gaza City. Anera is distributing all these humanitarian items as promptly as possible.

June 11, 2024

Today, we provided 93,900 meals to people in Gaza, including hot meals and fresh produce. We collectively prepared and distributed 64,500 hot meals through our community kitchen tekias:

From our distribution center in Deir Al Balah, we distributed 4,800 packs of menstrual pads, supporting 1,600 women, and 300 hygiene kits, provided to 600 families. We delivered this aid to displaced people in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis.

We implemented a wound management clinic in Khan Younis today, seeing 79 patients, including 42 new cases and 37 follow-ups. And 98 patients visited our noncommunicable disease clinic today, including 92 patients who had already been diagnosed and are continuing their follow-ups and receiving medication, and three patients newly diagnosed and three suspected cases currently under follow-up until confirmation.

So far this week, Anera has supported 1,772 children through psychosocial support and recreational activities in seven shelters. Two hundred thirty-five parents joined their children in these activities.

We received eight trucks from UNICEF today at our distribution center in Gaza City: six carrying hygiene kits and two carrying high-energy biscuits.

Today, we provided 89,400 meals to people in Gaza, including hot meals and fresh produce. Through our community kitchen tekias, we collectively prepared and distributed 60,000 hot meals:

  • Gaza City and North tekias: 30,000 hot meals
  • Deir Al Balah tekia: 9,000 hot meals
  • Khan Younis tekia: 4,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis tekia: 3,000 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis oPt funded kitchen: 13,500 hot meals

We also distributed 1,050 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Rafah, Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah, providing enough food to support 29,400 meals.

In the North and Gaza City, we distributed 400 menstrual hygiene management kits to women, provided by Tawfiq and Nimat Fakhouri Foundation. Additionally, we distributed 4,800 packs of menstrual pads provided by UNICEF, to 1,600 women, with each woman receiving three packs. We also distributed 200 hygiene kits from UNICEF, supporting 400 families. This aid was directed to displaced people in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis.

Also today, we hosted a wound management clinic in Khan Younis today, attending to 88 patients, including 37 new cases and 51 follow-ups. And 56 patients visited our noncommunicable diseases clinic today, including 48 patients who had already been diagnosed and are continuing their follow-ups, five suspected cases currently under follow-up until confirmation and three patients who are in good health.

Last week, from Sunday to Thursday, we hosted recreational and psychosocial support activities for 7,183 children, and held specialist sessions for 225 parents in seven shelters in Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah.

June 9, 2024

Today, Anera’s team in Gaza prepared and distributed 54,300 hot meals through four tekias (community kitchens) in Gaza City, Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis. Also, in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis, Anera distributed 11 bags of flour, from which was produced 9,900 flat breads. Finally, in Mawasi, Khan Younis, the team distributed food parcels from the World Food Program to 1,665 families, each receiving two parcels.

The team also distributed feminine hygiene products to 800 families.

Finally, the health team implemented a wound management clinic in Khan Younis, where we attended to 55 patients. Our non-communicable disease clinic continued operations, providing screenings and doctor consultations for 50 patients.

June 8, 2024

Due to the invasion and escalations in the eastern areas of Deir El Balah by the Israeli military, our staff have left the area and halted our interventions there for their safety. Despite these challenges, our food aid efforts in other parts of Gaza continue. In Gaza City and the north, we successfully prepared 30,000 hot meals. Additionally, in Mawasi, Khan Younis, we distributed 2,676 WFP food parcels to families in the area. In total, between hot meals and food parcels, we were able to provide 110,280 meals.

In Khan Younis, we implemented a wound management clinic, attending to a total of 105 cases, including 36 new cases and 69 follow-ups. Additionally, our NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases) clinic remained operational, providing screenings and doctor consultations. Today, 84 patients visited the NCD clinic: 65 for follow-ups, 14 suspected cases under observation, and 5 new confirmed cases (4 with hypertension and 1 with diabetes) who have begun receiving the necessary medication.

Today, our collective efforts resulted in the preparation and distribution of 64,500 meals through our community kitchens:

  • Gaza City and North Tekias: 30,000 meals
  • Middle Area Tekia: 10,500 hot meals
  • Khan Younis Tekia: 10,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi Khan Younis oPt funded kitchen: 13,500 hot meals

In addition, we gratefully received three trucks donated by IHP and Direct Relief, transporting vital medical supplies and medicines, which were delivered to our distribution center in Gaza City yesterday.

Today, we collectively prepared and distributed 64,500 meals through our community kitchens:

  • Gaza City and North Tekias: 30,000 meals
  • Middle Area Tekia: 10,500 hot meals
  • Khan Younis Tekia: 10,500 hot meals
  • Mawasi Khan Younis oPt-funded kitchen: 13,500 hot meals

Additionally, we distributed 1,150 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Rafah, the Middle Area, and Khan Younis, providing enough food for 32,200 meals.

From our distribution center in Jabalia in the North, we distributed 200 UAE food parcels to displaced people in Gaza City.

In total, between hot meals and fresh produce, we provided 101,100 meals today.

From our distribution center in Deir El Balah in the Middle Area, we dispatched 3,200 menstrual pads from UNICEF to displaced women in informal shelters in Khan Younis and the Middle Area. We also distributed 270 ten-liter water containers and 520 eleven-liter water gallons, all filled with water and provided by UNICEF.

Our wound management clinic continues in Khan Younis, where we attended to a total of 82 cases, including 32 new cases and 50 follow-ups. Additionally, our NCD clinic continued operations, providing screenings and doctor consultations. A total of 31 patients visited the NCD clinic today, including 27 patients who had already been diagnosed and were continuing their follow-ups, and 4 suspected cases currently under follow-up until confirmation.

June 5, 2024

Today, we provided 110,700 meals to people in Gaza, including hot meals and fresh produce. We collectively prepared and distributed 64,500 hot meals through our community kitchen tekias:

  • Gaza City and North tekias: 30,000
  • Deir Al Balah tekia: 12,000 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis tekia: 6,000 hot meals
  • Khan Younis tekia: 3,000 hot meals
  • Mawasi, Khan Younis oPt funded kitchen: 13,500 hot meals

We also distributed 1,650 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Rafah, Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis, providing enough food to support 46,200 meals.

From our distribution center in Deir El Balah, we distributed 60 UNICEF hygiene kits to support 120 families living in informal shelters in the middle area.

We also hosted a wound management clinic in Khan Younis. We saw an increase in patient visits, attending to 85 patients in total — 36 new cases and 49 follow-ups. And at our non-communicable disease clinic, we attended to 30 patients, screening blood pressure and blood sugar and providing ongoing treatment as needed.

June 4, 2024

Today, we provided 110,830 meals to people in Gaza, including hot meals, fresh produce, and food parcels. We collectively prepared and distributed 69,000 hot meals through our community kitchen tekias:

  • Gaza City and North tekias: 30,000
  • Deir Al Balah tekia: 12,000 hot meals
  • Mawasi Khan Younis tekia: 7,500 hot meals
  • Khan Younis tekia: 6,000 hot meals
  • Mawasi Khan Younis oPt-funded kitchen: 13,500 hot meals

We also distributed 1,050 fresh produce baskets to displaced people in Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah, providing enough food to support 29,400 meals. Our hot meals and fresh produce distributions are made possible with funding from Islamic Relief USA.

From our distribution center in Gaza City, we dispatched 220 Jordan Chamber of Industry-donated food parcels, each weighing 44 pounds (20 kilograms), along with 220 55-pound (25 kilogram) bags of flour provided by the World Food Programme, to displaced people in north Gaza. Additionally, we distributed 250 small food parcels, also provided by the Jordan Chamber of Industry, which included packaged goods and 7-pound (3 kilogram) bags of rice to hosting communities in Gaza City.

With support from Together Rising, we also hosted a wound management clinic today in Khan Younis, where we attended to a total of 75 patients, including 39 new cases and 36 follow-ups. Additionally, our non-communicable diseases (NCD) clinic continued operations, providing screenings and doctor consultations for 68 patients today, including three newly confirmed cases who began their first doses of antihypertensive medicines and six suspected cases currently being monitored. Our NCD clinic also saw 39 patients for follow-up appointments with the doctor, and screened another 19 individuals who we found to be in good health.

Yesterday, our team of psychosocial support activities facilitators delivered recreational and activities in six shelters in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis for 1,410 children. Three hundred and sixty seven parents participated too. This program is supported by the International Rescue Committee.

Also yesterday, we collectively prepared and distributed 51,000 hot meals through our community kitchen tekias:

  • Gaza city and north tekias: 30,000
  • Middle area tekia: 12,000 hot meals
  • Mawasi Khan Younis tekia: 3,000 hot meals
  • Khan Younis tekia: 6,000 hot meals

We hosted a wound management clinic in Khan Younis yesterday, where we attended to a total of 77 cases, including 33 new cases and 44 follow-ups. And we continued screening for hypertension and blood sugar levels at our non-communicable diseases clinic to identify suspected cases for physician consultations. We screened 64 people, diagnosing 42 patients and seeing other patients for follow-up appointments.

And on Sunday, our facilitators hosted recreational and psychosocial support activities in five shelters, with 924 children and 201 parents participating.

As an organization committed to humanitarian relief, long-term development, and peaceful coexistence in the Middle East, Anera welcomes the proposed ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas announced by President Biden.

Initial indications are that the plan includes the key elements required to end this horrible stage of the conflict: freeing of Israeli and Palestinian hostages and detainees, an end to the war through a temporary cease-fire with negotiations leading to an enduring ceasefire and peace, and a significant increase in humanitarian aid. The President’s remarks, and prior discussion among Anera, other NGO representatives, and Administration officials, give us some hope that the significant work over the past few weeks undertaken by governments, non-governmental organizations and others in the international humanitarian community will soon bear fruit.

We also conducted a wound management care clinic in Khan Younis, attending to 54 cases, including 20 new cases and 34 follow-ups. Furthermore, we continued screening for hypertension and blood sugar at our NCD clinic to prepare suspected cases for doctor consultations. A total of 20 people were screened: 13 were diagnosed and are now receiving follow-ups, 5 are suspected cases that may require referrals, and 2 were found to be clear. This means that 25% of today’s cases showed high readings of blood pressure and blood sugar and will receive proper care.

From our distribution center in Deir El Balah in the middle area, we dispatched 200 UNICEF hygiene kits to support 400 families returning to their destroyed or partially destroyed homes in Khan Younis. Yesterday evening, we received four additional UNICEF trucks: two carrying hygiene kits, one with mattresses, and one carrying both mattresses and hygiene kits. We also distributed 620 water gallons, each providing 11 liters of water, to informal shelters throughout Khan Younis.

We conducted a wound management care clinic in Khan Younis, attending to 78 cases, including 32 new cases and 46 follow-ups. Additionally, we continued screening for hypertension and blood sugar at our NCD clinic to prepare suspected cases for doctor consultations. A total of 100 people were screened: 49 patients were diagnosed and are now receiving follow-ups, 21 are suspected cases that may require referrals, and 30 were found to be clear. This means that 21% of today’s cases showed high readings of blood pressure and blood sugar and will receive proper care.

Furthermore, we started distributing a shipment from our distribution center in Hebron, generously donated by Direct Relief.
