2025 International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

This November 29, amid a fragile ceasefire in Gaza, we recognize the need to ensure the dignity of every individual and family in Palestine. In light of the humanitarian crisis that has devastated the lives of millions of Palestinians, we call for ongoing humanitarian support and a long-lasting commitment to peace.

Since the start of the war in October 2023, health authorities report that nearly 70,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and another 170,000 have been injured. OCHA reports that 994 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 218 children, have been killed.

Additionally, the majority – more than 90% – of Gaza’s population of 2.1 million people has been displaced from their homes, making it nearly impossible for them to access shelter, food, clean water, urgent medical services or education.

This International Day of Solidarity and every day, Anera maintains a deep-rooted commitment to the livelihoods of Palestinian refugees who have experienced the destruction of war, famine and other humanitarian crises. Despite the profound dangers and difficulties, our staff in Gaza and the West Bank persist in distributing water, food, life-saving medical care, winter clothing and more to families in need.

Amid uncertainty about what is to come, we remain dedicated to supporting families and uplifting communities to build a stronger future in the regions we serve. We also recognize the need for global solidarity and increased humanitarian aid to support the Palestinian people.

Everyone has a part to play.

2023 International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

This year, the Palestinian people are in urgent need of concrete expressions of solidarity from people around the world. Right now, as a war of unprecedented ferocity is waged in Gaza, Palestinians are experiencing one of the greatest collective traumas in their history. More than ever, global civil society must provide political support and humanitarian aid to stop the carnage in Gaza and the historic escalation in violence in the West Bank.

A message from Sandra Rasheed, Anera’s country director in Palestine:

Today, we mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, a day rooted in the anniversary of resolution 181, which once envisioned the partition of Palestine into two states: one Arab and one Jewish.

However, with the ongoing war in Gaza and escalating violence in the West Bank, that resolution now feels like an impossible dream.

Yet, as Anera, we persist in our life-saving interventions in Gaza. Our dedicated staff there risk their lives daily, providing meals, psychosocial support, and maintaining shelters to ease the struggles of fellow Palestinians facing displacement.

I ask you to stand in solidarity with Palestinians across the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and particularly in Gaza. It’s our collective responsibility to advocate for an end to hostilities and a lasting ceasefire. The Palestinian issue extends beyond borders, resonating with principles of justice and human rights.

Now, more than ever, we must raise our voices and take action to support the innocent men, women, and children of Palestine.

Together, let’s make a difference. Join us in advocating for peace and justice in Palestine.
