Families in Lebanon are under duress as the conflict continues. Displacement and a lack of resources have put families in a vulnerable situation. Here are stories from voices on the ground. Even in the midst of ongoing challenges and difficult circumstances, the resilience and dedication of those in South continue to shine. At Tropicana Restaurant, participants in the cash-for-work program are showing remarkable strength and commitment. Their perseverance is truly inspiring. The pictures below are from phase six of our cooking and catering course.

Today in Bekaa, Anera selected 13 promising business start-up ideas across diverse sectors, from sewing and cooking & catering (including the famous fwaregh), to agriculture, graphic design, and beauty. The journey now continues with a 6-month incubation phase, where participants will be supported by experienced coaches to bring their ideas to life.

From March 30 to May 5, Anera delivered a total of 53,163 bread bundles to displaced families across Saida and its surrounding shelters. This intervention reflects Anera’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and ensuring access to essential needs during this challenging period.

93 trainees from the barbering course, part of UNICEF Lebanon’s Learning to Earning program implemented by Anera, are offering grooming and care services across shelters in Lebanon. So far, they have provided 5,700 haircuts to displaced men and children, including boys and girls. Through this initiative, youth are earning an income while gaining practical experience and supporting their communities.

Some of Anera’s students producing sleeping bags wanted to share this reel with us! The production in Bekaa is ongoing with 250 bags already produced as part of our emergency response.

Today in Rachaya, we hosted a Focus Group discussion with professionals and representatives of the local hospitality sector in the area. The discussion was focusing on collaboration between Anera, Rachaya Technical Institute, and Farah Association to elevate the skills of youth in the area for employment opportunities in Beirut and Rachaya.

This International Workers’ Day, we celebrate the workers who keep our communities going every day.
