March 30, 2026

Anera’s programs across Palestine are continuing and evolving. While teams are actively delivering aid in the form of food, healthcare and other services, they are also adjusting in real time to changing conditions on the ground, while always prioritizing safety. Read the latest update.

This is a report of our program activities from March 13 through 26.

Note that the Anera team in Gaza has temporarily paused hot meal distributions due to supply shortages, but expects to resume them shortly as conditions improve. At the same time, the team is closely monitoring local market dynamics and stands ready to restart fresh food distributions once prices stabilize and supplies become reliably available. In line with Anera’s commitment to do no harm, the organization avoids purchasing goods at inflated prices that would further strain local markets and push essential items out of reach for Gaza’s families.

Across the West Bank and Jerusalem, Anera’s staff report a marked escalation of the war. Air raid sirens, interceptions and falling debris are happening across multiple areas, including Ramallah, where fragments have caused damage in residential neighborhoods. The frequency and intensity of these incidents have increased noticeably in recent days.

At the same time, the broader environment remains highly volatile. Rising settler violence continues to affect communities, with attacks reported in areas such as Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood and repeated incidents in villages like Al-Mughayyir, near Ramallah. Movement restrictions are tightening, with checkpoints and closures continuing to limit access and disrupt daily life.

Education and livelihoods are also affected. Schools in Jerusalem remain closed, and universities across the West Bank have shifted to online learning as students are unable to travel. Economic pressures are mounting, with many households facing income disruptions.

In Gaza, conditions have slightly improved compared to previous weeks, with communities supporting one another to meet immediate needs. However, the situation remains fragile. Heavy rainfall has created new risks, particularly in displacement camps in low-lying areas such as Jabalia, where flooding is exacerbating already difficult living conditions.

There are tentative signs of movement at crossings. The reopening of the Rafah crossing into Egypt has been reported, though details remain unclear. Meanwhile, the Kerem Shalom crossing into Israel continues to operate at similar levels, allowing aid into Gaza but not yet at the scale required.

Anera’s programs across Palestine are continuing and evolving. While teams are actively delivering aid in the form of food, healthcare and other services, they are also adjusting in real time to changing conditions on the ground. For instance, our agronomists are working now to align long-standing agriculture programs with increased demand for food assistance among displaced communities in the West Bank with the goal of better connecting agricultural production with immediate food access.

Some activities had been temporarily adjusted to avoid unintended market disruption. For example, vegetable parcel distributions were briefly paused during periods of sharp price increases, to prevent exacerbating inflationary pressures on local communities. As markets begin to stabilize, these distributions are now resuming.

Across all interventions, Anera is applying a “do no harm” approach by prioritizing local procurement wherever feasible. Analysis has shown minimal cost differences between importing food parcels and sourcing them locally. Procuring within local markets allows Anera to meet urgent needs while reinforcing – not distorting – local economies, helping sustain jobs, vendors and supply chains under strain.

The Anera Gaza team continued delivering critical assistance to displaced families across Gaza through food, health, education, and livelihood programs during the reporting week.

Through a distribution supported by the World Food Program, the team reached 3,413 households with ready-to-eat meals and bags of wheat flour at distribution points in Mawasi Al Qararah in southern Gaza and Deir Al Balah in the middle area. Each household received one ration of ready-to-eat meals and one wheat flour bag. In addition, 860.5 boxes of high-energy biscuits were distributed.

Across community shelters, 8,608 hot meals were distributed to displaced families. However, hot meal production has been paused since March 8 due to challenges sourcing commodities from World Central Kitchen for Anera’s contracted kitchens. Fresh produce basket distributions also remain suspended due to limited commercial imports and rising market prices.

A livelihood initiative led by a team of seven women and a chef continued producing pastries and bread, with 500 kilograms of ka’ak prepared and distributed to vulnerable families in Gaza City. Separately, the Women Can project produced and distributed 1,151 pastry meals across seven displacement camps, while the We Can project delivered equipment and tools supporting 12 small business grants.

To improve sanitation conditions in displacement sites, a waste management team of 56 day workers collected 52 tons of solid waste from seven makeshift camps. The team also conducted sterilization campaigns to reduce insect-related health risks and backfilled 15 hazardous sewage pits as part of winterization efforts.

Anera continued expanding water, sanitation and hygiene support in community shelters. During the week, the team distributed 264 cubic meters of potable water, installed 24 latrines transferred from Anera shelters to community shelters, and conducted 15 health and hygiene awareness sessions reaching 344 participants. Procurement for additional facilities remains ongoing, and potable water distribution contracts with vendors have been finalized and will begin shortly.

Anera’s health teams continued providing essential medical care through six clinics across Gaza, reaching 5,117 patients during the week. Primary healthcare services at clinics in Khan Younis, Deir Al Balah and Nuseirat treated 3,195 patients, while 1,922 patients received maternal, pediatric, psychosocial support and nutrition services at mother-and-child health clinics in Gaza City, Khan Younis and Al-Zawaida. Mobile field clinics also conducted six health days, examining 388 patients.

Education programming and psychosocial activities continued across shelters and learning spaces. 1,105 students remained enrolled in educational activities, while 589 education kits were distributed to children. Psychosocial support activities reached children, youth, parents and teachers through recreational activities, counseling sessions and parenting workshops. Three hundred children participated in recreational sessions, 60 youth attended group counseling sessions, 58 parents joined positive parenting workshops and 34 teachers participated in psychological first aid sessions. As part of Ramadan activities, participating children and families also received meals.

The Anera team also distributed 1,050 joy kits to children across three displacement camps in southern and northern Gaza, in addition to 600 joy kits distributed to children in Gaza through community programs.

Women’s empowerment activities continued with the completion of interviews for the final selection of 60 women beneficiaries, while teams review procurement lists and market assessments for the program’s next phase.

In the West Bank, Anera distributed 7,650 iftar meals to displaced and vulnerable families in Jenin, Tulkarem, the Jordan Valley and Yatta. Preparations were finalized for Ramadan food assistance through PalPay, with voucher redemption expected to begin early in the week.

Cash assistance is also being prepared for 572 Gaza patients, each scheduled to receive 800 Shekel (250 USD) in support. In preparation for Eid, three partner organizations began producing maamoul pastries, employing displaced women from Jericho, Tulkarem and Yatta, with a target of 7,000 kilograms (~15,400 pounds) to be distributed during the final days of Ramadan.

March 5, 2026

The Anera Gaza team continued delivering large-scale food assistance to displaced families across the south and central areas of Gaza. In Khan Younis and the middle area, the team prepared and distributed 300 pots of hot meals, serving approximately 7,500 displaced people daily, six days per week. Across community shelters, an additional 17,151 hot meals were distributed over a two-day period, along with 246 fresh produce parcels.

Through a distribution supported by the World Food Program, the team also reached 4,534 families with ready-to-eat meals and bags of wheat flour, while 1,135 boxes of high-energy biscuits were also provided to families.

A livelihood initiative led by a team of seven women and a chef also launched a pastries and bread project, producing and distributing 400 meals.

The team also worked to expand access to safe water and sanitation in shelters and displacement sites. Anera delivered 70,534 gallons of potable water to community shelters in Gaza City and Khan Younis. To improve sanitation conditions, the team installed 10 latrines, conducted 13 health and hygiene awareness sessions reaching 294 participants, and installed five steel water tanks serving camps in southern Gaza. A waste management team of 56 day workers collected 52.19 tons of solid waste from seven camps, carried out sterilization campaigns to reduce insect-related health risks, and filled in nine hazardous sewage pits.

Anera’s health teams continued providing essential medical care through six clinics across Gaza, reaching 6,137 patients during the week. Primary healthcare services at clinics in Khan Younis, Deir Al Balah and Nuseirat treated 3,357 patients, while 2,780 patients received maternal, pediatric, psychosocial support, and nutrition services at mother-and-child health clinics in Gaza City, Khan Younis and Al-Zawaida.

The Gaza team also distributed children’s clothing kits to 584 vulnerable families, while 2,000 children received ‘joy kits’ filled with treats across six locations in southern Gaza and two in the north.

Education programming continued in shelters, with 956 students registered and attending learning activities. Psychosocial support programs reached more than 350 children and 57 parents through recreational activities, counseling sessions and positive parenting workshops, helping families cope with the ongoing crisis.
